Behind the scenes of Washington's 24-20 win at Maryland
Come with me to College Park, Md., for a behind-the-scenes look at the Huskies' victory over the Terrapins ... plus some ALDS action.
It was a long, entertaining weekend of Seattle sports, across the country and back.
On Saturday, I covered Washington’s 24-20 win at Maryland in College Park. On Sunday, I flew home early to watch the Seattle Mariners beat the Detroit Tigers, 3-2, in Game 2 of the ALDS.
Here’s what I saw and heard, beginning with some Friday night sightseeing in Washington, D.C., and ending with some celebratory Nirvana outside T-Mobile Park.

I was at the Maryland game this past weekend and I’m so glad I didn’t leave when they were down 20-0 late in the 3rd quarter. I wanted to leave because I was so frustrated with the Huskies but I was at the October 10, 1994 game at Cal where we were behind by a similar margin and in my frustration I yanked my then 10 year old son out of his seat to leave. Well as we walked to our car we saw people listening to their radios and would stop to get an update. Long story short, by the time we got to our car, the Dawgs had stormed back to beat Cal in a miracle comeback and I told my son that I’d never leave a Husky game again when they were down. Because of that, I stayed in my seat the entire Maryland game and witnessed an amazing comeback!
