Nice research, Christian.

Dylan Morris took a long journey to wind up QB2. I wish him the best…

He might be a good interview post-season on his life in college football and if he still plans to pursue a coaching career.

ya that was a shock he didnt win the starting job.

Man Christian, thanks for doing all this leg work - whew! Seems like it would be a lot of research. IDK about others but stories like this are really fascinating - a very particular version of "Where are they now?" It's disorienting to see these names that are so fresh in my memory, and to see how quickly some who recently seemed to hold such promise are just falling off the map. V. Nunley, A. James, J. Klemm, D. Gordon... I really thought I'd see you guys under the bright lights.

I'm not surprised at all by the way that the OL guys that left have performed. Brailsford is really really good, but doesn't have the beef to move people in the rushing attack and it's hard to see how he ever will - others see a pro center but I do not. Kalepo & Buelow would have been nice to keep because of their experience and the fact that they're both big men, but neither is an outstanding lineman. Really hated to lose G. Hatchett, but even with him it felt like the next injury was just waiting to happen.

I hope Austin Mack lands on his feet somewhere, with someone who knows what to do with his talents; I suspect he will. In any case, I'm pretty sure it won't be at Alabama and I hope he doesn't let Kalen DeBoer convince him to stick around because Mack is going to get buried in that depth chart the way Ryan Day is successfully wasting Lincoln Kienholz's college career. Not that I think either Mack or Kienholz has a place back at Montlake, I just hate to see young talent falling prey to the charisma of hungry coaches and to their own ambitions of glory.

Parker Brailsford is 6'2 290, roughly the same size as Jason Kelce. I think he'll do well in the NFL. Very smart, natural player with great instincts and vision.

"Very smart, natural player with great instincts and vision" - I completely agree with this characterization of Brailsford, and have always admired his game. You also bring up a very valid comp in Jason Kelce. My only push-back is that Kelce is something of a unicorn with NFL starting centers (I say "starting" only because I don't have the time to research heights/weights of centers who are sitting on the bench). The average height & weight of an NFL center these days is roughly 6'4 and 308lbs.

So, I'll concede that I'm too early to dismiss Brailsford's pro chances - he's the type of guy who can make it if a small body center can do it. And I'm rooting for him.

You might add Vander Ploog to that list if he signs with Oregon.

Love this detail on past players we watched development, play and depart to other programs. Very good work here!

Another potential subject would be the exacting details associated with a Husky road-game! Really a deep dive into all nooks and crannies of what it takes to pull off trips, including selection of what to take, what happens to the dirty laundry how is it packed and by whom etc. etc.

Really wonder what our season would look like with Kalepo, Buelow, and Brailsford. Probably the 3 most important transfers out.

Kevin Cacabelos's avatar

An interesting follow-up would be the main coaches from last season.

The OLine transfers were the biggest losses.

Jabbar’s transfer doesn’t hurt the roster so much as it just helps Oregon (which stinks all the same).

I wonder if Hatchett would consider coming back. I’m sure we can brainstorm some fun brother NIL ideas!

Great work Christian. A bit like water torture reading about where the core of our "former Dawgs" are now.

What should we make of Sam Huard (Utah) and Dylan Morris (James Madison) closing out their college careers as backups? They were great high school quarterbacks who never thrived in college, despite sky-high expectations. I think I understand what happened to Morris but Huard is a bit more of a mystery.

They left. Who cares. Good riddance for not staying.

Tim Larson's avatar

You're an interesting case, Steve. :)

Would love to have 2-3 of the OL back for sure; Brailsford, Kaleppo, and Hatchett will work.

Wow, that's a ton of talent. Good on Fisch and Co for doing as well as they have. Hopefully we get to a bowl....a long shot but....

Tim Larson's avatar

Christian, when you do his list next season, you'll be writing about OL Zach Henning and safety Tristan Dunn, two good players with no playing time.

Great article. For the O Line that left how do they stack up against our current O Line. Brailsford seems to be the main loss (also who Softy and Dick Fain said they wish was still here). Germie sure doesnt have great stats being he's 2nd on the team. Would be 3rd here.

Diesel is lucky not to be in jail. Saw the video of his assault on the bicyclist. They say the guy flipped them off...even so they spit on the guy and hit him....knocking him down. Sucks thought he would be a good DB now his career is possibly over. Tybo if found guilty will be in prison and definitely flushed his career and life down the drain.

Jameson Greenfield's avatar

I'm trying I figure out how to ask what Tybo is doing now without it sounding smart-assy...

Christian Caple's avatar

He is awaiting trial, and does not appear to be playing football anywhere.

Jerry's avatar

No way that sound smart-assy.....he will be lucky if he doesnt go to prison.
