Geez Ohio State, really stretching yourselves. If there was ever a time for ESPN to break out the cupcake props it’s that murder’s row

It caught my eye that Notre Dame was the toughest non-con team on two of the B1G schedules (Purdue & USC). This got me curious about how many of the teams on ND's schedule might regard the Irish as their toughest opponent. I think the answer is probably 10 out of 12. The exceptions are TAMU (plays #4 Texas) and Georgia Tech (plays #1 Georgia).

This year we might be the toughest test for four teams - certainly for Weber St. and Eastern Michigan. Washington St. has a handful of other similarly-rated teams on their docket and it's not easy to know which of the group will be best in 2024. And Rutgers managed to get a Big Ten schedule that misses all of the ranked conference teams, so one can at least argue about where the Huskies should stand relative to teams like Wisconsin, Nebraska, USC, and Illinois.

Last year, of course, different story.

ND is the toughest on most teams schedules particularly since they don't play many tough teams.

That's true this year, and maybe it will be going forward. They've had some gruesome schedules in the past.

I think for now, probably not a good idea to schedule non-conf marquee. We're already at a sharp disadvantage on travel and revenue. The program's interior lines got decimated in the off-season; I feel that's more of a priority at this point. So they need to use the next few seasons to rebuild both lines and depth, get accustomed to the new league and travel demands.

What the hell do the interior lines have to do with scheduling?

The article’s premise is a question about whether to start thinking about scheduling marquee non conference games and my response is to focus on building the team first before going on the road to Athens or Baton Rouge. Get it or do you need me to break it down into smaller details?

Jerry's avatar

Yes please break it down to how exactly recruiting relates to scheduling when scheduling isn't for years into the future.

I suggest you re-read the article, then if you still don’t understand my comment, take your own advice to another reader and leave.

This is a tough but fair article. However, I think most of us would prefer you use the offseason on some creative writing posts.

Maryland at Virginia...wow it is going to take some time to get excited about the B1G. Name two coaches on each team...no googling

Huskies and volunteers will never meet unless it's in the playoffs.

Biggest difficulty in apple cup will be getting the stadium full with the prices they are charging for the game.

Thanks, dumb editing error on my part. It's fixed now.
