Man, it’s hard being a Husky fan these days. You want the team to win, but success makes it feel like a certainty your coaches will be poached. I miss the good old days of just celebrating wins. 😒 Go Dawgs, I guess.
It was a fun game to attend, even if the attendance wasn’t great. Probably the only time $115 is going to get a ticket in the lower bowl between the 30 yard lines.
We sat with Dezmen Roebuck’s entourage. One of them was seriously inebriated; he screamed for Dezmen every drive, even when we were on defense.
Desmond was off on his downfield throws tonight. Not enough air under some of them IMO. Otherwise both sides of the ball had a good night.
From the lower bowl you can take a set of stairs down to a sideline field level bar area with a small bar top to set your beer and talk to the players. We went down there for a second time with about two minutes left in the game. Deshawn Lynch gave me his interception gloves. They are now hanging on my Huskies/Seahawks memorabilia wall in my home office.
Not much of a bowl environment, but I’m glad I went and am hoping this team stays together and Fisch takes us to a more meaningful game next year.
My favorite moment of the game was when one of the announcers yelled "big man running!" just before Lynch tried to juke the final defender. It was a fun game game to watch.
I’ve spent a fair amount of time with Jedd in golf/ social situations.
My strong feeling is he knows exactly what his words mean. The “Michigan Mystery “ gives him great strategic and emotional leverage with not only the AD but also current and potential donors. The win last night, substantial improvement from last year AND excellent recruiting classes make it a perfect storm. He wants more NIL $, $ for Coaches and acquisition $ for players.
He is a smart dude with great east coast street smarts. Hope I’m right.
I think your spot on James R. BTW I didn’t mean to come across as a Johnny Long
C—k on the Jedd/ golf etc comment. I thought about saying that in my OP. 😁
One last thought… sometimes I/we forget Jedd did not play football! He was not born on third base, second base etc! Probably not even a HBP!😁. My point, he has had to ‘think” his way thru the upward mobility of his career. Far more than putting yellow stickies on Coach Spurrier’s windshield!
Well I've spent a lot of time not playing golf or really any time at all with Jedd. But I have the same impression - he's getting as much leverage as possible from the current circumstances for the program as well as for himself. I'd be very surprised if has any interest in the Michigan job. Jedd knows that there is no reassurance he can give that won't be met with, "Oh sure, that's what they always say just before they leave!" So I think he's making that work for him.
Next season is looking to be a great one. The trend line is positive.
Don’t work, be Happy:) I know people in the program and donors. Though I don’t have specific inside information, I don’t think Fishe leaves this season. Michigan is a hot mess right now and has been troubled for years—no AD and admin in turmoil.
It would make little sense for Fishe to leave at this time for numerous personal and business reasons. He’s building something at UW. You don’t build trust or create character in players as a coach if you leave every two years as an HC.
UW has pretty much given the coach everything he’s asked for to improve the facilities and training. And frankly, if he has a successful season in 2026, as I expect, He will be in for a big raise. And his stature will increase. I don’t think he'll stay here forever. But it’s to soon to jump, especially into a pot of steaming lava;)
“I don’t give a damn about the whole state of Michigan, the whole state of Michigan, the whole state of Michigan.” My daughter and Husband went to OHIO. So I’m allowed:)
I’d hate to see us lose Fisch, but I also do not support agreeing to blackmail when he hasn’t really proven anything yet. Promising start, but we can’t afford to commit $70+ million, and 7 years to this guy. If he goes hirer the DC as head coach immediately and fight for every player. We cannot allow him to take players like DeBoer. Oh and here’s hoping Oklahoma cleans his clock next week.
Looking ahead to the offseason, here’s a question for an upcoming mailbag:
There are some obvious areas where this team could benefit from additions from the transfer portal, however at some level good players are good players and you could always use more of those. So to put this in context I have a hypothetical scenario for you - I’ve turned the transfer portal into a time machine. It can no longer be used to acquire players from other programs, it can now be used to bring back players from our recent past. Let’s say the last ten years. However, there is one rule - this player can’t have taken a snap in an NFL game. I think that rule makes this a more interesting exercise. Because obviously having more defensive tackles or a true top end wide receiver would be big deals for this team, but I don’t think it’s realistic to say that Vita Vea or John Ross is going to arrive through the portal.
Why don’t reporters ask direct questions like: Are you interested in the Michigan job? Not saying he will give a direct answer but put him on the spot. He has a big job and reporters should report rather than trying to be Jedd’s friend.
Why? She ask that question. What do you expect him to say? Why don't reporters ask the question. He's not going to answer that question but why don't they ask it. That's dumb
Doesn’t sound like you know what you are talking about. Sounds like negative guessing to me.
Michigan has launched an investigation into their athletic department to clean up the mess Harbaugh and Moore left them. They are a true blue blood, but I don’t think a smart coach wants to jump into that mess. Being the coach after the next Michigan coach makes much more sense.
Ok…. I didn’t say he is going. I’m saying I THINK he would take the Michigan job if it is offered to him. I also THINK he would have taken the Florida job if it had been offered to him. Evidently you don’t think so. Great. We agree to disagree and we may never know. But I do KNOW that he has had an extension on his desk since the Oregon game that he hasn’t signed.
I certainly hope I'm wrong ( "Take that to the bank") ...and I hope the coyness of Fisch is to gain more from our AD however...He hasn't stated that, "I'll be here at Washington next year".
Does Demond have a good rapport with his teammates? I don't get the impression -- from my couch, mind you -- that he has a "one of the guys" vibe to him. I'm not suggesting that's a requirement if you want to be a good leader, but it can help, especially when you hit a rough patch and need to pull together.
Man, it’s hard being a Husky fan these days. You want the team to win, but success makes it feel like a certainty your coaches will be poached. I miss the good old days of just celebrating wins. 😒 Go Dawgs, I guess.
Hasn't been hard at all.
Yay you!

Who's Desmond?
Sorry, autocorrect? Demond

How does he hit it?
Pretty good stick (10)? He’s very strategic!😁

Just phenomenal, Christian. This and your Wisconsin recap have been particularly noteworthy this year.
Thanks dude.
Sadly, it's going to be a crazy next few weeks just when it seemed our program was coming back.
Sadly how?
Fisch’s post game statements (and having his agent with him on the golf cart! Ha) make the rumors feel more true than not.
To be fair, his agent has been around a lot. He was on the sidelines at probably half their home games.
That seems weird. Have you seen other CFB coaches who have their agents at half their games?
Have you seen his agent at half his games?
Oh ok that’s fair
That's dumb. What the hell do you expect him to say.
Jerry, chill. We are all friends here.
Then don't ask ridiculous question. People get so bent out of shape about what he is or isn't saying.
Great game. D was on fire:)
Next season is looking to be a great one. The trend line is positive.

Go Dawgs!
Nice way to end the season.
Be a great year to start covering UW Basketball. On the rise.

“Cannot allow”? How does that work?
Agreed. If he wants to go to Michigan, good for him. No use wasting money on someone that we all know doesn't really want to be here.
What the hell are you talking about? No one is blackmailing anyone. No one is talking about 7 years $70 anywhere
DeBoer just announced he’s staying at Bama. Yikes doesn’t seem good for us.
DeBoer said about the same thing Fisch did…. I’m not convinced either one will stay where they are.
I actually believe KD about staying. Not sure UM is a step up from Bama.

Dave Softy Mahler asked Coach several days ago if he’ll be at UW in 2026. He gave a very confident yes.
That was before Michigan unexpectedly open and Fisch became a rumored candidate. It is not hard. Just ask.
Fielding calls and actually having interest/being offered are 2 separate things.
If Fisch is back it’s only because he didn’t get the Florida and Michigan jobs.
Or the fact he wasn't offered/ didn't want either
Didn’t want? You sure about that?
You sure he did?
We will see. I know for a fact that he has an extension on his desk since before the Oregon game that he hasn’t signed.
There is no Florida job. Jon Sumrall was hired a couple weeks ago.
Understood. Was just pointing out that he would have jumped at Florida and will at Michigan if offered.
Doesn’t sound like you know what you are talking about. Sounds like negative guessing to me.

I certainly hope I'm wrong ( "Take that to the bank") ...and I hope the coyness of Fisch is to gain more from our AD however...He hasn't stated that, "I'll be here at Washington next year".
Very good ending to the 2025 season.
He actually has. You should listen to the radio and watch videos a bit more. But why does he need to?
Fisch stated last week on KJR that he will be at UW in 2026. That was before the UM s***show.
Does Demond have a good rapport with his teammates? I don't get the impression -- from my couch, mind you -- that he has a "one of the guys" vibe to him. I have the opposite impression of him.
I hope your impression is correct. I'm just guessing.
Me too. He pumped up his offensive teammates more than once on the sidelines yesterday.
I hope you are correct.
