Washington received perhaps the most important commitment yet in its 2027 recruiting class on Thursday, as four-star defensive lineman Jon Ioane from Tustin (Calif.) High chose the Huskies over Penn State, UCLA, California and Stanford.
"I just really felt like it was time to make the decision, because I had that feeling in my heart that it felt like home," Ioane said on the CBS Sports live stream announcing his decision, before pulling off his sweatshirt to reveal a Michael Penix-themed UW t-shirt. "Honestly, I just want the opportunity to play football."
Listed at 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, Ioane is the 10th player and second defensive lineman to join the class, which currently ranks No. 6 in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is the third composite four-star prospect to commit (joining Sumner receiver Braylon Pope and Glendale (Ariz.) Sandra Day O’Connor running back Jeremy Adeyanju) and the second four-star prospect (joining only Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge receiver Zerek Sidney) via 247’s own rankings.
Only Pope ranks higher than Ioane’s No. 267 ranking in the composite; Ioane, at No. 183, becomes UW’s highest-ranked commitment in 247’s own rankings.
Here’s what else to know about the blue-chip defensive lineman picking the Huskies.
