LOS ANGELES — On a night when his side of the ball played well enough to give Washington a chance to win, linebacker Jacob Manu stepped in for one more defensive maneuver as he sat next to his quarterback inside a tent up the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum tunnel.
“This is not on Demond,” Manu said. “As a team, we all have plays we wish we got back.”
True enough. But for the second consecutive week, it is difficult not to wonder how a narrow Huskies defeat might have ended differently if not for a crucial turnover by its quarterback, this one returned for a touchdown in a game the desperate USC Trojans won, 25-21, scoring the game’s final 15 points after UW built a two-score lead in the second half.
