Comparing Washington's 2026 and 2027 recruiting cycles

The 2027 class isn't finished, but it's close enough to analyze.

Comparing Washington's 2026 and 2027 recruiting cycles

Washington’s 2026 recruiting class ranked No. 13 nationally, higher than any at UW in the modern era. When the Huskies take the field for their Sept. 6 opener against Washington State, a handful of those true freshmen will be among the two-deeps, and at least a couple will be in the starting lineup.

Such is the nature of modern recruiting that by the time Kodi Greene, Derek Colman-Brusa et al make their collegiate debut, UW will have assembled nearly its entire 2027 class, too.

Already, with five months remaining until signing day, the Huskies have 23 prospects committed for 2027. They aren’t done, as a few players who made official visits in the spring remain uncommitted, and a surprise or two should be expected between now and December. But the foundation is more than established, and the summer and fall will entail mostly finishing touches as the staff turns its attention to 2028 (and, you know, the actual season).

That’s not just a Washington thing. All but seven of the top-100 prospects — and all but 20 of the top-300 — in the 247Sports Composite have announced a commitment, and a handful of those uncommitted are scheduled to announce soon.

As Rivals national recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman told us in March: “The real, unofficial signing day is almost like the Fourth of July.”

Finances have something to do with the accelerated calendar.

“Guys are committing on their first visit now instead of their fifth visit,” Huffman said on Ep. 186 of Say Who, Say Pod. “Guys are making that decision in mid-April rather than late June, because they know the value of their NIL deal is going to be heavier and higher earlier in the cycle than the longer you wait.”

We have enough data, then, to begin to evaluate how Washington’s 2027 class might compare to the 2026 benchmark.

With five months until signing day, here are the key metrics, and some things to keep in mind:
