I have a bit of an obsession about our most talented linebacker's mysterious second-string status the last couple of years, so I was happy to hear that the first name on Fisch's "spring standout" list was Carson Bruener. Sitting in Durham, NC, I obviously have no idea why the previous staff kept Bruener on the bench -- maybe there were good reasons -- but I'm taking pleasure in the idea that Fisch is finally seeing what I've always seen, and what DeBoer's coaches seemed incapable of seeing: Bruener is a tough, fast, athletically gifted guy who always answers the bell on game day. If he stays healthy, I'm expecting him to be an all-league candidate in the Big 10.

Thanks for the recap Christian, the ‘make yourself irreplaceable’ is great motivation!

Now that college recruiting looks like a Wall Street trading desk, Jed Fisch seems like a perfect coach for us. He's fast, smart, likeable and high-energy. I hope he also manages to remain a "good guy" in a business that's getting more cut throat every year.

It would be cool to read a piece in the thinking behind this:

“… with the ball advancing 10 yards per rep, regardless of play outcome. That period has been a staple of Fisch’s practices so far.”

I feel like DeBoer and Petersen each did some version of this, too, where the snaps were prescribed rather than dependent on the offense moving the ball.

Great to hear Holmes is back. Still don't get Anthony James leaving. Just a redshirt freshman..gonna have a hard time get reps anywhere but a low in school..unless it's strictly about money.

Apparently according to the arizona "writer" we are going after another one of their running backs.

He is the UA "nutcase" in my book, Mr. Scheer. His main job apparently is to stoke the anger in their fan base. Pretty pathetic from a supposed journalist.
