I caught up with Washington athletic director Pat Chun via telephone on Thursday night after traveling to Indianapolis ahead of UW's Friday game at Purdue.

Here's a transcript of our conversation about the state of the football program, NIL, roster budgets, field naming rights and more. Questions and responses have been lightly edited for length and clarity.

Big picture, through six games, what is your general assessment of the football program right now?

I fully acknowledge that 0-3 in conference play is not what the young men in our football team are working toward or expecting, or what any of our fans were expecting. We’ve got to figure this thing out. We have a huge opportunity (Friday) night at Purdue to get back on track. But we have some work to do, and I know that Jedd (Fisch) and this program are working hard to try to get this season back on track.
