Washington's 28-25 loss to Penn State was more than half bad

Another home game, another first-half no-show ... plus a killer fourth-quarter penalty.

Washington's 28-25 loss to Penn State was more than half bad

SEATTLE — If there is any good reason not to fixate on Washington’s illegal substitution penalty in the fourth quarter of another half-baked home defeat, it’s that the Huskies did so many other things to lose to Penn State long before they put too many players on the field.

On third down. After a timeout.

There is credit due, too, for the fact Washington’s 28-25 loss to Penn State on Saturday was even as close as it was, the Huskies scoring 19 unanswered points in the second half after falling behind by 22 in the first.

Just not enough to obscure the headline, which is that Washington again no-showed a first half on both sides of the ball — on Homecoming, this time — then fell victim to its own disorganization when it mattered most.

It’s a result, too, that means the Huskies are more likely than not to go 0-fer at home in league play; No. 4 Indiana looms in two weeks.

How long will it take UW to start playing in that one?
