Which UW positions will be most competitive in training camp?

Washington’s 2026 training camp should begin with most starting roles more or less defined, assuming no major changes to what we saw this spring.

Some spots, though, will only be resolved via competition this August — and even at positions with established starters, there should be some interesting battles to determine which players will be the first off the bench, or how deep into their bench UW's coaches will go.

With about five weeks left before the start of training camp, here’s where I believe the competition will be most intense at each position group.

(Also, a quick nomenclature update: in light of the NCAA's adoption of five-in-five eligibility, I'm now referring to players by the year of eligibility they're currently in, rather than their academic standing. For example: Demond Williams Jr. is a third-year player, rather than a junior, and so forth. I'm not certain I'll stick with this, but it's what I'm trying for now. The one exception: freshmen are still freshmen, for the very scientific reason that "first-year" just sounds weird to me.)
