As has become tradition during the final week of Washington's offseason, I come to you today with a work of fiction.
The background, if you're unfamiliar: Ted Miller, the great former ESPN writer, used to concoct satirical, best-case/worst-case scenarios for each Pac-12 team ahead of every new season. I reached out to him in 2021 to ask if he would mind me reprising the idea for a column of my own.
He graciously approved, and so I've written a different version for each of the past five seasons.
As Ted always reminded: these are works of fiction. None of the events or quotes are real. It is a creative exercise, and a chance to have a little fun before the season starts.
